STATISTICS OF GRAVE CONCERN Source Josh McDowell
A survey conducted in 1991 found that 52 % of evangelical fundamental Bible based church kids believed there is no absolute truth. You say not my kid. In 1999 the same survey found that 78 % said there is no absolute truth. Oh that can’t be! In today’s secular humanistic based society 91% of evangelical fundamental Bible based church kids say there is no absolute truth.
I got these statistics 6 months ago while attending a half day seminar in El Paso TX featuring Josh Mc Dowell. I was so very impressed with Josh’s presentation. He really knows his stuff. Try asking your kids or grand kids about truth and let me know. I’m sure others would be interested in your findings too.
To those of us who are over 40, truth has an entirely different meaning than it does to today’s younger generation. To you and me, if something is true then it is true regardless of the circumstances and conditions. For kids today, if something works, to them it is true. What do you mean by that Bill? Kids today have been taught something can be true for me and not true for you. For our kids today there are no absolutes in our world. That is the total opposite of what we were taught. Every one of us was taught that by doing good, you get ahead in life. When we were growing up that same message was reinforced by every facet of our environment, our parents, the schools, church, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the police, the fire chief, on and on I could go. Everything taught us, good was right and bad was evil. Tell me, is that possible today when Hollywood and the music industry play such a huge roll in the youth generation. Everywhere they look, everywhere they go, the morals the ethics, their social moorings are being torn apart.
So what do we do?
Are today’s youth just lost? Josh makes a very strong point to rescue our kids.
Josh teaches that behavior is driven by values, values are formed by beliefs
and that beliefs are a result of relationships. What is it that causes your
kids to want to know your Jesus and your truth? IT’S RELATIONSHIP! See HOBY,
youth leadership below. It’s not too

The Freedom to Choose - A Message from Hugh O’Brian
“Unfortunately,
a very small number of our young people seem to attract most of the news. They
are in the public eye because they have stolen cars, vandalized schools,
created disturbances—in some way rebelled against society. These headline-makers
represent only a small part of our teenage population. It is a fact that 98.7
percent of our young people are law-abiding, constructive citizens. There is
too much focus on the negative. It is time we accent the positive—pat the good
guys and gals on the back— let them know there are rewards for being
responsible members of the community.
I
do NOT believe we are all born equal — CREATED equal in the eyes of God, YES —
but physical and emotional differences, parental guidance, varying environments,
being in the right place at the right time, all play a role in enhancing or
limiting an individual’s development. But I DO believe every man and woman, if
given the opportunity and encouragement to recognize his or her own potential,
regardless of background, has the freedom to choose in our world. Will an
individual be a taker or a giver in life? Will that person be satisfied merely
to exist, or seek a meaningful purpose? Will he or she dare to dream the
impossible dream?
I
believe every person is created as the steward of his or her own destiny with
great power for a specific purpose: to share with others, through service, a
reverence for life in a spirit of love.”

HOBY Leadership Seminars are designed for high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, schools, workplace and community. Currently, nearly 9,000 sophomores, representing as many high schools nationwide, attend HOBY Leadership Seminars each year. The seminars provide a high level of energy, encouragement and motivation, as well as interaction with peers, panelists and volunteers to nurture their future leadership roles. In addition, they will participate in hands-on leadership activities and meet state leaders in such as areas as business, government, education, media and the non-profit sector. Each September, every public, private and charter high school in the country is invited to select and register an outstanding sophomore as their representative to their local state seminar. There are approximately seventy Leadership Seminars held each spring throughout the United States
Kids form all over the state will be lining up to help KVBA through HOBY. KVBA has been chosen to be the service project for this year HOBY participants. Please be in prayer for each one. Not only will we be helped by these kids but if the Lord has His way, I know some of these kids will meet the savior of their eternal soul. Think of what that means, our future leaders going home to family and friends, to schools and teachers with a the message of how Jesus Christ can you save them too. Be in prayer, I’m going to call it an outreach even though KVBA will be the service project for this HOBY team.
JESUS JAM
The Jesus Jam this year was “On the Road” as they say. It traveled to the East Coast. It was of major expense but will worth it. It gave the community of Rembert, South Carolina and the Union Baptist church a chance to experience the thrill and excitement of The Jesus Jam first hand. I asked Mae Robinson to give us a two part account of the event. One where the concept for the Jesus Jam came from and two, just how the event this year unfolded. Here then is part 1 of the concept of Jesus Jam as explained by Mae Robinson.
It was approximately 2:00 AM one morning and I heard
the voice of God say to my heart and mind, the words "Jesus
Jam." It startled me into full consciousness and I turned on the
light by my night stand and followed the directives in my spirit that told me
to pick up the pad and pencil on the night stand and "write these things
down", and for more than an hour that is precisely what I did.
My hand never moved so fast across a page. It was as if my hand was
controlled by something other than myself, I call it divinely controlled.
At the conclusion of my hand moving frantically across several pages, there was
a whole outline there that spelled out the birth of the Jesus Jam and helping
our troops and community. In essence the Jesus Jam is an event affiliated
with the O.U.R. T.R.O.O.P.S. (One Union Reflecting Togetherness Rallying Our
Own People Strong) organization, reaffirming our commune with God as one
nation, uplifting and supporting each other in our communities and a showing of
appreciation for our troops and their families.
All Americans can benefit from a unified effort we all can and should partake
of in this country and standing together and facing it together is what's
important. As a Christian American I would like to see the Jesus Jam
serve as a harbinger for a nationwide annual event to celebrate a spiritual
refortification of God within us as well as serving to honor our troops and
help support the needs of the families of these troops. Bottom line, our
troops are our heroes and we as Christians and Americans need to demonstrate to
them, each other, the nation and the world that they are important and that
they are significant to us and through God given humility we support them and
each other in our own communities as well.
We are a country of exceptional humility for other nations. This is one
of the things that so clearly defines us . . . sets us apart from other
countries and makes us exceptional as a country. We are one nation under
God and our humility for other nations is extra ordinary, however, in the same
breath we, as American citizens, must embrace an equal portion of humility for
our own troops who sacrifice not only their lives, but their safety and family
security as well to protect us, to protect our country, our way of life and our
freedom. The very freedom that affords us the opportunity to choose to
work, live, shop, go to school where we choose, or to simply read the bible in
broad day light as opposed to under the cover of darkness. Overall, the
true American way of life is to know and believe in God and His son Jesus
Christ and when you do this, it is easy to help, encourage and uplift those who
protect our freedom at home and abroad and for those who encourage, uplift and
support the ones right on American soil, in our own communities as demonstrated
by the 2006 Jesus Jam in honor of Pastors and Their Families for the hard work
they do in getting God's work done in the local communities.
To answer the question, what is The Jesus Jam? The Jesus Jam is simply a
celebration through service and song, honoring our troops, their families
and community leaders for what they do in protecting our safety, rights and the
freedom to serve our God and His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in our
communities and in our country.

TWO NEW PROGRAMS COMING TO KVBA
The New Jim Bakker show will debut in May on KVBA. Many of you know Jim’s testimony and how the Lord totally transformer him in prison. What I see is the latter end of his ministry having a greater impact than the former. The program will air Monday through Friday at 5:30 PM. They will try out our station for three months and see if we are a good fit with their program. Please let me know what you think.
Overseer HB Johnson from Praise Temple in El Paso will begin airing on KVBA in June. The program will air on Tuesday nights at 8PM. HB is the uncle of Lawrence Johnson, the Athletic Director for our High School.
Please support these new programs by watching and responding to them. Please let them know you watched or are watching their program. Many of these programmers watch the results very carefully to see if they are making a difference in a community. We certainly want new programs and your help will keep them on the air. If you’ll remember just two months ago, we lost the Les Feldick program due to a lack of response. Now that it’s off, I hear from lots of you that wish it were back on the air. Once a program producer pulls their program it is very hard to get them to reconsider. Please let these new programmers know that your watching.
COMPUTER NEEDED
Do you have an old computer that you’re no longer using? KVBA has a desperate need for a Macintosh computer. Let me explain. The Macintosh brand is manufactured by the Apple Corporation and is the computer brand we use to do our video editing on. We are using our current Mac, as it is called, to its fullest extreme capacity. We really need to have another one so we can continue to expand our editing. It seems like more and more our Mac is over used. If you have a Mac you are not using and would consider donating it to KVBA, we would be indebted to you. We will give you a tax receipt for the value of the computer. Call me Bill 437-1919
BROADCAST EXCELLENCE
Our picture seems to be hanging in there for now. We have a great need to finish the engineering work on the microwave sitting in El Paso (see last months newsletter) so our quality of broadcast will be up to our desired standards. The unit that is not working is missing one power supply $980.00 and one video card $490.00. Last month I asked for financial assistance and we do thank each one of you for your help. Please continue to pray for KVBA as we are still reeling from our recent problems. It seems we get just so far before we are hit with a disappointment of one sort or another.
Sales- Are you
looking for an exciting position working in a Christian Ministry? KVBA needs
you. We are looking for a part time sales person. Pay is negotiable; the work
is hard but rewarding.
The Prophet
Amos speaks to us about two walking in step as one. KVBA may be able to fulfill
your needs and expectations and you may be able to help us fulfill ours. - do
you have a passion for ministry and media rolled up in one? Are you looking for
a job call 437-1919?
“THE LOCAL 19”
“The Local 19” airs

business can sponsor a local church program on KVBA. Cost for sponsorships on

message could air before and after the program.
