Greetings my friends from snowy (again) Colorado,
I wanted to clarify any rumors to the contrary about my time in prison.
It was only a couple of hours and they gladly let me out. :-) As a "visitor" I
was allowed to go and observe a Bible study time with some of the prisoners at
Huerfano County Correction Center last Wednesday. What a blessed time to meet
Roy, Roland, and Victor. They are part of the Faith Pod at HCCC. This is a
section of the prison that those who are followers of Jesus live and take part
in lots of Bible study, and training in finances, family life, anger
management, etc. They compare it to going to Bible college with a sort of
"monastic" setting.
The other good news is, the same day, I received my approval from
Colorado Dept. of Corrections to become a volunteer at the prison. The next
step is to get the training required and approval of the warden. This will
allow me to start and lead Bible studies there. This would be open to all of
the prisoners- not just the Faith pod. Pray with me about God's direction in
this.
Yes it did snow today! Thank you Father for the moisture. Thanks to the
CDOT snow plow drivers and God's wonderful mercy the 150 miles traveled today
were safe. I was blessed to start my day meeting with 5 great pastors in the
Green Mtn. Valley which takes in Colorado City & Rye. I was able to share with
them the vision God has given Mary & me to lock arms with them in 1) leading
believers who are hungry for more, into intimate relationship with Jesus &
becoming "agents of redemption" to their culture 2) to reach the unchurched of
their community & 3) ANYTHING else we can do to help them in their ministry,
(I'm highly trained in cleaning bathrooms - thanks Mom). Then heading south in
the snow & low visibility I hurriedly made my way to Trinidad & the
Ministerial Alliance meeting at noon. Well since hurriedly today had a high
measure of safety added to it, I missed lunch. But I was just in time for the
meeting and hearing about what Jesus is up to in Trinidad thru these men &
women. Looking forward to working with these new found brothers & sisters in
the days ahead.
Would you join us in prayer for this Sunday evening in Rye. Bay Forrest (www.focusministries.org)
will be speaking at the Rye H.S. gym. This is a time the pastors have put
together to reach out to their towns with Jesus. Bay played pro basketball
with the Phx. Suns, served as a missionary, & now speaks all over the world
about Jesus. (sounds like he's still a missionary) We are hoping to take some
kids from Walsenburg to this.
I find myself often overwhelmed with thanks to each of you who have
partnered with us financially & with prayers, making it possible to be here.
May God bless you in ways you never imagined!
