True Story of Finding My Daughter Jessica

In 1976 my daughter Jessica was born to my former wife Judy on June 9th. We didn't know she was pregnant when we were first getting divorced. She was in Utah and I was in California at the time. A few years later I moved to Arizona where I had bought my 7-Eleven Store that was near the corner of 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue.

I was informed later that Judy had remarried a wonderful man by the name of Greg, and he wanted to adopt her. So I signed all the legal forms so he could adopt her and leave the country without needing my permission as I waived all rights.

About 10 years ago I began to think a lot about Jessica and wondered if she knew about me. I had one other daughter Sharon that found me and to make it complete I started to pray that I would find Jessica. I started searching on the web but couldn't find anything and so all I could do was just pray.

Later I learned that Jessica was told about me when she was 8 years old. Her mother had given her a photo of what I looked like and she kept it with her and would go to school showing her friends what her daddy looked like. She always wanted to find me someday and to learn all about me.

Just at about the same time 10 years ago Jessica started to search for me. But she too couldn't find anything, and with my busy past I moved a lot.

Then I had a new co-worker by the name of Romy that started in about December of 2008 and she was a former Deputy Sheriff in Arizona. I was very impressed with her background and what a wonderful person she is and I learned a little about her. She is the type of a person that just makes you smile when she enters the room. So I wanted to see if I could find anything for her about the time she was at the Police Academy, and it was close to the time I was there in the Correctional Academy. Both ALETA and COTA shared the same campus grounds for training. But I couldn't find anything and while I was on this extensive search I found something related to Romy on Reunion.com.

I went to the Reunion site and saw there was someone looking for me. So I got a glimpse of what said Jessica (last name) age 32 and in Utah. I got so excited as I knew this was my daughter that Romy had put me onto. I then paid to signup on the site so I could send an email. The contact information was old and said 2/4/06. I had done a lot of web research and I found her husband's name and an old address, plus information that she gave birth to a girl on May 13, 2005. So on December 9, 2008, I sent an email to Jessica and wrote a letter and put it in the mail that same night.

Jessica never received the email as her account had expired and the letter I put in the mail came back around Christmas on December 22nd, as the forwarding had expired. So I thought I would later try to search again, but put if off for now.

Then the New Year came and I had just updated some of my files and MySpace too. On MySpace where it says Who I Would Like to Meet I had put "My daughter Jessica who I believe I have found in Utah." On January 7, 2009, I was at home and kind of down and so I went to the KVBA Webmaster email address to clear out all the junk mail I often get. Now I haven't checked that email in maybe a month or so, as I often just get 500+ junk stuff. But there was an email that just came in a few hours earlier and had as the subject line "Jessica" in it. I almost deleted it, but thought what if this is about my daughter. So I opened it and to my surprise this is what it said:

"Walter, I am Greg (last name) who married your first wife Judy (last name) and adopted Jessica. I see on your myspace website you would like to contact her. She is very interested in contacting you also. She's a wonderful young woman with a family. I would like to talk to you to make arrangements for you to talk over the telephone plus bring you up to date on her life. Please reply and let me know."

I sent an immediate reply and then had to wait until the next day to get an answer. I was overwhelmed and overjoyed that I'll be able to contact my daughter. So the next day on January 8, 2009, I received a telephone call from Greg. He said he saw the information about the TV station on MySpace and so he went to KVBA web site, and he sent me that email I received. He gave me Jessica's phone number but said I would have to wait a little as she is now speaking with her sister Sharon. She didn't know she had two sisters and two brothers until her dad Greg told her about finding the MySpace site. She went and looked at it, and she was always wondering if I ever wanted to know her and then she saw my comment on Who I Would Like to Meet. Then is when she learned about her sisters and brothers that she never knew she had. Up to this time, she only had a half-brother Jacob that was ten years younger than her, and too young to really play with. They also found Sharon thanks to MySpace as they looked at her site and saw she manages a Dollar Tree Store and then found the phone number through directory assistance.

Then Jessica called me within a few hours. She is so sweet and I am so blessed to now know my oldest and first born child. I sent an email to her other sister Nichole on MySpace and she called her the very next day the moment she got my message. Jessica has now spoken to both of her sisters. Now it even gets better as I learned that she not only had given birth on May 13th, but that she had 3 more children. Praise the Lord as I now have 4 more grandchildren.

Jessica was so excited about all of this that her first night was to sleep for an hour only to wake up again to get excited, and then go back to sleep only to wake an hour later again, and this repeated all night long.
